Welsh FRCS VIVA General Surgery Revision Course

Aimed at Higher Surgical Trainees appearing for their General Surgery FRCS Section 2.
This will be an intensive 1 day course, with the emphasis on simulating exam conditions in a formative environment. Each candidate will experience simulated VIVAs, Clinical Stations and Academic Papers with immediate discussion and feedback.
All faculty members will hold FRCS or FRCA. We aim for delegate:faculty ratio of 2:1.
VIVAs
– General Surgery
– Emergency General Surgery
– Critical Care
– Specialist Interest
– Basic Sciences (specialist interest)
Clinicals
Each candidate will be given short cases using clinical or radiological images instead of patients covering:
– General Surgery
– Specialist interest
Academic Papers
Each candidate will be given the opportunity to undertake two stations on the academic paper to ensure adequate practice at paper appraisal
– Paper 1 General Surgery
– Paper 2 Specialist Interest
